Semarang, Jawa Tengah, 26 April 2023 ,TRKP Undip In order to improve the quality of education and student creativity, TRKP now has a 3D Printing tool. 3D printing is the process of making 3D dimensional objects from a CAD (Computer Aided design) model, Usually by adding printing material layer by layer. The technology was first invented in the 1980s by Chuck Hull of 3D Systems Corp., which is an evolution of all types of woodblock printing processes. The 3D machine is able to print objects exactly the same as the soft file image, no longer limited to printing images on the work table. The results of 3D printing are used in making prototypes (models) and industries ranging from architecture, automotive, Geographic information systems, and biotechnology.
The specifications of this tool are branded Anet 3D Printer, 110 / 220 AC, build volume 300 x 300 x 350 mm, product diameter 612 x 462 x 573 mm with filament diameter 1.75 mm. How to create models can be with autocad or other 3D programs with jcode format. The printing method used by Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) is a 3D printer that utilizes the basic material of plastic rolls as the printing material. The impact of this tool for lectures is that students can foster creativity in designing ship prototypes or ship construction parts so that students can present the designs they make.
The existence of this tool shows that TRKP is ready to develop student creativity in the field of design and support lecture activities in shipping design and construction courses. On the other hand, the existence of this tool is expected to realize the vision and mission of the study program to become an international standard campus.
