Demak – Lecturer of Nautical Construction Engineering Technology Undip Vocational School supports the development of organic agriculture in Bedono Village, Sayung, Demak Regency. Through community service activities entitled ” Community Involvement in Organic Agriculture Management to Improve Economic Standards.” The team handed over assistance in the form of vegetable seeds and planting media.

Head of the Community Service Team (PKM) of Nautical Construction Engineering Technology (TRKP) Undip Vocational School, Budi Utomo, AT, MT said, organic vegetables are considered healthier than non-organic vegetables. “In addition to its higher nutrition, organic vegetables cultivated without chemicals are safer to consume.” Budi Utomo said”.

Also present at the handover of assistance, a number of lecturers including Dr. Mohd Ridwan, ST, MT., Dr. Sunarso Sugeng AT MT, Sarwoko AT, M.Kes., Adi Kurniawan Yusim S.Si, MT and a number of students. The assistance was received by the head of the Daduk Fertilizer Center group, Fadholi accompanied by the head of RW 01 Bedono. The vegetable seeds given Chili, kenikir, tomato, purple eggplant, basil, mustard greens and celery. As for the planting media using daduk, which is puput made by Bedono Hamlet residents from mangroves.” Residents can take advantage of the abundant resources around, one of which is mangrove waste to be used as fertilizer,” he explained.

Mentioned planting time, Budi said it could be done when residents did not go to sea because of the rainy season or high waves. He hopes that organic agricultural products can improve the economy of Bedono Village residents. Meanwhile, Fadholi said, to anticipate the land of his area which is often submerged by robs, plants are planted in compost blocks.

“Compost blocks can be used for one year. During this time span, plants do not need to be fertilized again. As a fertilizer, we replace it with curd that has the same function or even better than ordinary compost”. He said
