Semarang, June 3, 2025 — The Naval Architecture Engineering Technology Program (TRKP) of the Vocational School at Diponegoro University (UNDIP) has initiated a strategic collaboration with the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) to develop a maritime vocational curriculum that integrates Mixed Reality (MR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). This partnership began with an initial meeting held at the Vocational School campus, attended by representatives from both institutions.
The collaboration aims to explore the current condition of maritime vocational education, identify challenges in teaching ship design and construction, and formulate expectations and recommendations for building a curriculum that aligns with rapid technological advancement.
Secretary of Program Study, Dr. Zulfaidah Ariany, S.T.,M.T., stated that this initiative marks an important step toward the modernization of maritime vocational learning. “We believe that integrating technologies such as Mixed Reality and Artificial Intelligence can significantly enhance students’ understanding of ship design and construction, especially in the context of limited physical space and practical facilities,” he said.
During the meeting, the BRIN team presented opportunities for utilizing simulation technologies based on Virtual Reality (VR), MR, and AI to support immersive and interactive learning environments. These technologies are expected to offer more engaging and efficient approaches to developing practical skills among students.
The discussion also covered the development of digital learning modules, virtual laboratory environments, and the integration of ship design data into simulation platforms. The insights gathered from this session will form the basis for a long-term collaboration roadmap between TRKP UNDIP and BRIN.
This initiative highlights TRKP UNDIP’s commitment to embracing digital transformation in vocational education and strengthening its role as a leading institution in developing high-quality, globally competitive maritime human resources.
