The Naval Architecture Engineering Technology Study Program had the honor of hosting a Visiting Lecturer session with Mr. ZhangZhixun, an experienced lecturer from Jiangsu Shipping College, China. This event was held on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at Building A.3.3. In his lecture, Mr. Zhang delivered a presentation entitled “Ship Machinery Management”, covering topics comprehensively from basic concepts to the application of the latest technologies in ship machinery management. The materials presented included system management and industry standards, main equipment maintenance procedures, damage analysis, and emergency response on board. Mr. Zhang also provided detailed explanations of the ship’s main propulsion system, auxiliary machinery management, deck and hydraulic equipment, as well as pollution prevention devices in accordance with MARPOL international regulations. In addition, he emphasized the importance of understanding the ISM Code, certification, spare parts management, energy efficiency, and operational cost control. Participants gained valuable insights into the role of effective communication, cross-department coordination, and crew training in ensuring operational safety and reliability.

Furthermore, this event served as an important platform to strengthen international cooperation between Jiangsu Shipping College China and the Naval Architecture Engineering Technology Study Program. Through direct interaction with a resource person who has extensive experience in the global maritime industry, students had the opportunity to engage in discussions, ask questions, and gain an in-depth understanding of the challenges and opportunities in ship machinery management. It is expected that this event will pave the way for further collaboration, such as student exchange programs, joint research, and technical training oriented toward the latest maritime technology developments. Thus, this Visiting Lecturer activity not only enriched academic knowledge but also made a tangible contribution to preparing competent human resources ready to compete in the international maritime sector.
